What is puerh tea?

Puerh is the ancient name of a large administrative area in southern Yunnan Province. There are two distinct types of puerh tea, raw puerh and ripe puerh.

Freshly picked tea leaves are aged in a natural way after picking, without fermentation treatment as raw tea. Raw tea is stronger and more stimulating. Freshly made or aged raw tea has a strong tea taste and astringency, and the soup color is lighter or yellowish green. Raw puerh has a better weight loss effect, but it is more stimulating to the stomach. So it is not recommended to drink raw tea for a long time.

Ripe tea has a mild nature due to the fermentation of the pile during the production process. With silky smooth tea, mellow and rich aroma, ripe tea is more suitable for daily consumption. The soup brewed from ripe puerh is red, burgundy and crimson, in short, it's red in color. Does puerh tea have caffeine?

All types of tea derived from the camellia sinensis plant have caffeine contents of varying amounts. Puerh tea contains caffeine, but the amount is very low. Green tea contains about 10 to 15 mg of caffeine in 100 ml, while the same amount of puerh tea contains only about one-tenth of caffeine, about 1 to 2 mg.

How to make puerh tea?

In principle, soft water should be chosen for brewing puerh tea, such as pure water, mineral water, etc. Tap water that meets drinking water standards is also available. The water temperature has a great influence on the aroma and taste of the tea soup. The tea should be brewed with boiling water at 100°C.

The amount of tea can be determined by personal taste, generally 3-5 grams of tea leaves, 150 ml of water is appropriate. In order to make the tea fragrance more pure, it is necessary to wash the tea. When formally brewing, the tea soup can be poured into a fair cup in about 1 minute. As the number of brewing times increases, the brewing time can be slowly extended, from 1 minute to several minutes. This way, the tea soup will be more evenly brewed.
